WWE Predictions - Battleground

Hey guys! Before every WWE PPV we will be doing our round of predictions and hope to get, if not all, at least most of them right.

Battleground is one of WWE's flagship PPVs. It is one of the Top 5 PPVs for WWE after Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble. The kind of main events that Battleground has been providing us in the past few years has been nothing but spectacular. Battleground 2015 featured Lesnar vs Rollins while 2016 had a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship among former 3 members of the Shield. We can just hope with Mahal and Orton headlining the PPV that it will at least be half as good.

Here are our predictions for Battleground 2017.

Kick-Off Show: Tye Dillinger vs Aiden English

Tye Dillinger debuted on the main roster in January, 2017 at the Royal Rumble PPV. It's been more than 5 months and Tye doesn't seem to be going in any direction. WWE doesn't seem to have any concrete plan for him and the fact that he's on the kickoff show is symbolic of that. As far as Aiden English is concerned, he has been reduced to a joke and one that's not very funny. However, as far as predictions go, it should be an easy win for Mr. 10.

Prediction: Tye Dillinger

Mike Kanellis w Maria Kanellis vs Sami Zayn

WWE finally added Sami Zayn on to the PPV. I really doubt which way this match is going to go since it is so early to judge whether Maria and Mike will be able to cause another upset. Considering that Zayn has already lost to Mike on Smackdown, it makes sense to make Sami win at the Battleground PPV. However, WWE would not want to take away the momentum from Mike and Maria and might end up repeating the same match they had on Smackdown. No one hardly cares for this match. My prediction for this match would be the love couple!!

Prediction: Mike Kanellis

Smackdown Tag Team Championship: Usos vs The New Day

Smackdown Tag team division has almost gone into oblivion. If nothing is done soon, I hardly wonder if someone will pay heed to the Tag team titles. Also considering the results at Money in the Bank, it should be New Day going into Summerslam as Tag Team Champions.

Prediction: The New Day

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Baron Corbin

WWE has to clearly end this feud between Corbin and Nakamura. It has been going on for too long and is least interesting in my view. Nakamura has not been as impressive on the main roster like he was down in NXT. Corbin also needs to improve his mic skills. Considering the history of WWE to make MITB holders lose, I'll go with "The King of Strong Style" in this case.

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura

No.1 Contender's Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match: Charlotte vs Becky Lynch vs Lana vs Natalya vs Tamina

If you ask me who should win this match, I'll say Tamina. She is one of WWE's most underutilized female athletes at the current moment. She looks cold and has great offensive moves to back her credits up. If WWE uses her correctly, she can certainly be one of their top draws. However, coming back to the match, I'd like to follow the elimination rule with this one. WWE would not book Lana as she's already had her match with Naomi. Charlotte and Lana seem to be going into a rivalry as of now and WWE doesn't seem to have much confidence on Natalya and Tamina. Looks like it's going to be Becky Balboa for Summerslam.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

Flag Match: Rusev vs John Cena

To keep it short, it will be John Cena! WWE have been building this as USA vs Bulgaria and they are not going to pull the trigger when it comes to the land where America was born. John Cena has also been made to look quite weak but ultimately I think he will be the one to pick up victory at Battleground. Only Cena's part-time status may move things in Rusev's favor. Keeping this aside, it should be a well-deserved victory for Cena at Battleground.

Prediction: John Cena

United States Championship: Kevin Owens vs A.J.Styles

This is the one match that I particularly doubt which way it is going to go. It looks like WWE wants Kevin Owens to keep his American gimmick going while A.J.Styles' U.S. Open Challenge is something that I'll be intrigued to watch. Probably I'll go with Owens thinking that he's a heel and Styles will be the one to dethrone the modern-day Maharaja at Summerslam.

Prediction: A.J.Styles

Punjabi Prison Match: Jinder Mahal vs Randy Orton

This one's the easiest to guess. It has to be Jinder Mahal. WWE is planning to go big in India and they need an Indian face to do it. Jinder has improved immensely with his promos and in-ring skills. I certainly feel, he has a long way to go in his WWE career.

Prediction: Jinder Mahal
