Why John Cena and Roman Reigns' segment was comparable to the infamous "Pipe bomb" from C.M.Punk in 2011?

We are experiencing a different time in the world of Pro Wrestling right now. Earlier it was the promotion that created a star but now it is the star that makes a promotion. Fans got to know that there is a decent and sometimes a better pro-wrestling world outside of WWE and those are NJPW, ROH and other independent promotions. WWE has been struggling to create a mega star like John Cena, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, The Rock etc and is seriously going through its toughest phase currently.

However, something happened on last week's edition of Raw that made every pro-wrestling fan go berserk. It was a promo between John Cena and Roman Reigns which was so good that it reminded me immediately of C.M.Punk's infamous pipe bomb in 2011. I gave an intro to this article because it is exactly the reason why it looked so good. John Cena spoke the exact thing that fans all over the world wanted to say to Vince & Co. - "We choose stars, not you". He showed Roman Reigns what every fan wanted him to see and it was the fact that as long as he is the 'Chosen One', he will not be accepted by fans and as long as he is the next mega star, there isn't going to be a mega star for WWE.

It would not be too wrong to say that John Cena almost 'buried' Roman Reigns last week on Raw and he proved to the audiences yet again, that he is still 'The Face that runs the place'. Another reason why the Cena-Reigns promo stands out is because of the fact that it appeared very real and unscripted. John Cena showed the world and esp. Vince McMahon how much Roman Reigns has yet to learn before he can be 'The Guy' and it would have pleased many wrestlers back in the locker room. Reigns forgetting his line during the promo made it all the more embarrassing and clearly made him look incredibly weak in front of arguably one of the most popular WWE superstar of all time. John Cena's "Goodbye, fourth wall" has become so popular that is now being incorporated by people in their daily conversations (Would you believe it?)

However, when compared to C.M. Punk's pipe bomb, I think it fell slightly short. C.M.Punk's pipe bomb was a game changer in the world of Pro-wrestling. It made C.M.Punk WWE's biggest star, revealed the true mentality of WWE officials and showed us exactly in which way the company was going - down, which it certainly has. However good this segment may have been, it was still scripted (at least 90% of it) and would not change much in WWE - Roman Reigns would beat Cena and then beat Miz and Brock and every other wrestler that ever lived and Vince would have then finally realized what all of us already have - WWE is going down.

WWE needs to clearly realize that it is facing huge competition from NJPW and ROH who are increasing their viewership each night by displaying better content to the audiences and if they don't do something too soon, it is not far when WWE will perish.
